The FREE event will take place on Friday, May 13th, from 4-9p.m. with free parking in campus parking lots C, D and L. Enjoy live music on two stages, an art fair featuring local artists, art demonstrations, performances, kids activities and more!

This night of art, music and food is completely free and open to all ages. The Arts & Music Festival (AMF) will feature a “Best of the Bands” competition. The main music stage will feature the “CSUSB Jazz Fest” with a student Latin Combo (10 piece band), and will follow with a Latin Jazz Ensemble (big band), with guest artist Bobby Rodriguez.  The headliner for the evening will be the local favorite, Orquesta Salsa Caliente. The second music stage will feature the “Best of the Bands” competition where local bands will compete, and the audience will vote for the winner.

There will also be live art demos, an art walk, a children’s area filled with arts and crafts and tons of food booths and beer gardens. Flash mobs from the Theatre Department could even appear at any time. If anyone in your family loves art or music, this is the place to be.

The AMF will be held near the Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art, in the art studios, Pfau Library and throughout the Lower Commons. The art walk will feature the work of over 50 local and student artists, and art made by the CSUSB Glass Club and Clay Club will be available to purchase.

Want to take a “behind the scenes” look at how the art is made? CSUSB candidates in the Master of Fine Arts program will be demonstrating glass blowing, ceramics and forging. And if all the art has you feeling inspired, you can participate in the Chalk Art event happening in front of the Pfau Library. The kids can get involved too, with hands-on arts and crafts activities available from 4-8p.m.

Music fans will definitely want to check out the “Best of the Bands” competition happening on the M-Lot stage. Local Inland Empire bands will compete and festival guests can vote for their favorite. The winning band will be featured in CSUSB’s student end-of-the-year celebration, CoyoteFest. In addition, the AMF will be host to the 6th Annual CSUSB Jazzfest, featuring Latin artist Orquesta Salsa Caliente and CSUSB’s Latin jazz ensembles. You will even have a chance to try out your salsa dancing skills!

Beer gardens throughout the event will feature local craft breweries, including Dale Bros. Brewery and Lagunitas Brewing Company. There will also be plenty of food booths available to keep those taste buds satisfied while you listen to a wide variety of musical styles and check out all the talented artwork on display. So round up the whole family, grab a date, and come support the local art and music scene!
