Style & Fashion | Three Makeup Looks For Valentine's Day

By: Katrina Honer & Jamie Durante

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, we give kudos to you for making those reservations ahead of time, purchasing that perfect gift for your partner and finding that smoking hot outfit you will wear once the day arrives.

So when you’re ready to put on that outfit which makes you feel like a million bucks, complete your look with one of our three make up looks that are perfect for Valentine’s Day: Simple & Sweet, Mighty Glamourous and the Hot Tamale.

Each look will require you to follow these steps in this order:

  1. Start off with a clean, cleansed and moisturize face.
  2. Then prime your face with any face primer you choose. This will ensure your face is “smooth,” reduces visibility of pores, and will make your foundation last.
  3. Prime lids with eyeshadow primer which will not only make your eyeshadow stay on all day but will actually make your eyeshadow color looks brighter.
  4. Prep your brows

The key to a polished look is having beautiful eyebrows! For each of these make up styles, begin with prepping your brows.

Brows:

Take an angled brush and dip in dark brown eyeshadow. Trace and outline your brows and proceed to lightly fill in spaces. Once completed, lightly brush your hairs in an up and down motion for a natural look. For a flawless clean finish, outline the top and bottom of your brow with a pointy brush dipped in concealer that is your skin color. Blend concealer with your finger.

The Mighty Glamourous Make Up Look:

If you are in the mood for some Hollywood glam, this style is all glitz and glamour and we’re sure your partner will see you glowing from across the room!

  • Prime face and eyelids as mentioned above.
  • Follow the same steps above for brow shaping.

Eyes:

  1. Take a crease brush and apply a matte color that is lightly warmer than your skin tone above your crease.  The color should appear very light.
  2. Then take a burgundy shade and fill in from the outer corner of your eye to half way to your lid. Blend the shade into your crease to avoid harsh lines.
  3. Using a pointy brush, apply matte black eyeshadow to the most outer corner of your eye. Blend the black, burgundy and crease color together for a nice smoky eye.
  4. Next, take your main eyeshadow and apply to the lid with a flat brush (or finger depending on the eyeshadow) from the tear duct to where the blended color begins. Best lid colors for this glamourous look would be a shimmery gold or a shimmery maroon.
  5. Lastly, to kick up the glam, apply a lose pigment glitter on top using a flat brush, or your finger, pressing it on. Clean up the excess with a makeup wipe.
  6. Highlight your brow with a matte white eyeshadow with a pressing motion and blend down. Lastly line your eyes, add mascara and lashes for a flirty big eyed look.

Lips:

  • Go for a wine color to fill in lips and add a swipe of pink in the middle of the lips for a light ombre touch.

  2. Then take flat angled brush and apply a slightly darker shade, such as purple, directly into your crease for a “crease cut.” Blend the shade into your crease to avoid harsh lines.
  3. Take your main eyeshadow, a light shimmery pink or purple works best for this look, and apply to the lid with a flat brush (or finger depending on the eyeshadow) from the tear duct to where the blended color begins.
  4. Apply an even darker matte purple eyeshadow with a pointy brush to the most outer corner of your eye. Blend the pink, purple, and creased color together for a nice smoky eye.
  5. Highlight your brow with a matte white eyeshadow with a pressing motion and blend down.

  1. Apply a neutral color of powder eye shadow to your lid. This will keep your eyeliner from smudging, and it’ll last throughout the night.
  2.  Take something straight, and line it from your nose to your eyebrow. This will give you the proper angle of line you will want to make for your liquid eyeliner cat eye. Make a dot where you want to eyeliner to start on both eyes, and make sure the dots are even.
  3. Draw a line that connects the dot to the outside corner of your eye. Instead of pulling your skin, lean your head back slightly to properly see your lash line.
  4. Draw another line that connects the dot to the middle of your eyelashes.
  5. Depending on how dramatic your cat eye is, fill in the outline.
  6. Draw a thin line connecting the inside corner of your eye to the rest of your eyeliner.
  7. Repeat on the other eye.
  8. Use a cotton swab to clean up any shaky lines.
  9. Generously apply black mascara to eyelashes.

Lips:

  1. Line your lips using a dark red lip liner.
  2. Fill in lips using a bright red lipstick.
  3. Add a shiny lip-gloss on top of your lips to give them a little extra shine.
