Wellness | Escape to Wellness at Salt Oasis in Rancho Cucamonga

By: Christina Rico, Health Coach & Personal Trainer

As a wellness coach, I am intrigued by all of the different modalities of healing and training techniques that people use to treat various health conditions. So, when I was asked to attend a salt therapy and “Breathe and Bend” wellness class at Salt Oasis in Rancho Cucamonga, I was excited for the experience.

Prior to my visit, I did some research on Himalayan sea salt and found out about the numerous health benefits that one may experience by inhaling salt air. I discovered that researchers believe breathing salt infused air may provide a natural cure for respiratory problems. Since I have mild allergies, I was interested to see if my allergies would subside after one of the 50 minute salt therapy sessions.

When I first entered Salt Oasis, it felt like I stepped into a relaxing paradise—calming and quiet. I couldn't help but notice the beautiful and serene seating area. I could tell that every element of the room was thoughtfully designed. The spa consultant greeted me, offered me a glass of refreshing spa water and led me to a seat to fill out my wellness questionnaire. The questionnaire was used to identify our specific health goals and educate us about how the salt therapy would benefit our bodies. We were advised to bring comfortable clothes for our sessions, and the spa also offers lockers for those who need to store personal belongings.

After our wellness consultant reviewed our survey, we were taken on a tour of the spa. In addition to salt therapy, Salt Oasis also offers massage, reiki, and wellness classes, which also take place inside of salt rooms. Like the reception area, each of the salt rooms and the salt cave are beautifully designed and offer a peaceful atmosphere. The walls of the salt room and cave are built entirely from salt rocks imported from Poland and the Himalayan Mountains. The floors are covered in pink Himalayan salt pebbles several inches deep. The treatment rooms are temperature controlled, equipped with comfortable chairs, and play soothing music, which all add to the rejuvenating environment. The owner, who designed every detail of the salt rooms, did an exceptional job.

Our spa consultant led us to the salt room where we were going to spend our 50 minute salt therapy session. I couldn't help but notice the cascading waterfalls and Himalayan salts throughout every inch of the space. Before leaving us to relax, she educated us about salt therapy, provided some tips to maximize our experience and told us about the unique treatment at Salt Oasis. We were encouraged to recline back and fall asleep, while our bodies absorbed the 84 essential minerals released from the salt rocks. She also encouraged us to breathe deep and allow the salt air to detox and balance the pH of our bodies. For the next 50 minutes, we did just that, and it was nothing short of relaxing.

After our salt therapy session, we participated in a “Breathe and Bend” wellness class that was lead by our spa consultant. This wellness class was a light breathing and stretching session performed inside of the salt cave. The salt cave offers the same benefits as the salt rooms, but it is a larger space and can accommodate more people. During the hour long class, we went through a variety of beginner stretches and focused on inhaling the salty air. It was a great way to unwind and soothe the mind, while reaping the benefits of Himalayan salts.

Salt Oasis was different than any wellness treatment I have experienced before—I left feeling calm, relaxed and fresh. I breathed with ease for several hours after the salt therapy, and I even slept soundly throughout the night. I think it is safe to say that I am a believer in salt therapy. Since Salt Oasis is the only salt therapy spa in all of southern California, I am lucky that I live nearby and can visit whenever I want to detox and unwind. If you are looking for a place to escape and relax for a few hours, Salt Oasis is a must!  Salt Oasis hosts a variety of wellness classes and workshops throughout the month, which can be seen on their events calendar.
