Nom-worthy: VG Farmers’ Market Pupusas

08.23.12

A little while back I checked out the Friday’s Farmer’s Market at Victoria Gardens (Rancho Cucamonga).  How fantastic to combine retail shopping and a farmers’ market all in one trip!  They have a little bit of everything:  few fresh fruit & veggies vendors, fresh baked bread from Baked from the Heart (Rancho Cucamonga), handmade tamales from The Tamale Guy and fantastic sweet potato pie from French Quarter Cafe Catering (Fontana).

The Farmers’ Market also had some food vendors so I couldn’t resist the line that was forming around the pupusa stand.  I want to kick myself for not jotting down the name of the place (if you know the name please let me know in the comments).  But if you go you can’t miss them!  They’ve got a red tent and a line forming for some handmade, fried right on the spot, deliciousness.   [FYI, pupusas are a popular El Salvadoran dish made of a thick, corn tortilla filled with anything from meats to cheeses to refried beans to pork rinds.  Think of it as a stuffed quesadilla].  I washed my pork pupusa and carne asada taco down with some refreshing watermelon juice.  Think everything came out to $9.  The perfect little meal I needed to stroll around the rest of the mall. ;)

So this Friday morning, don’t miss the Farmers’ Market and bring your resusable bag for some fresh fruit, veggies and more!
