Nom-worthy: Texas Lil’s Riblets

08.09.12

Yes, they were as delicious as they’re pictured.  It was my first time at Texas Lil’s.  I’ve stayed away because of the crowd and I wasn’t sure how good ribs would be at a crowded bar, but I had heard such good things about them I thought I should check it out.  So glad I did because I almost finished the entire basket (you get four racks of riblets).  They were juicy, tangy and meaty AND less than $9!

Texas Lil’s also has a great happy hour – Mon-Fri 3-7 p.m., $5 apps on the patio plus every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to close when you buy 1 burger and 2 beverages you get the 2nd burger free.  I know it’s wine country in Temecula but it’s nice to know there are options.  I wish they had some local brewery options (i.e. Stone Brewery, Black Market) but at least they had draft.

Also loved the fact that on their patio you can bring your pooch to hang out with you and there’s also a doggie menu.  Another unique menu item was their new Bison Fries (a.k.a. Rocky Mountain Oysters) – buffalo testicles soaked in buttermilk, hand battered and deep fried to golden brown.  Unique, right?

So the next time you’re in Old Town Temecula, head over to the crowded bar on Front St., grab a patio seat for some great people watching and chow down!  Next time I’m there, I definitely have to try the “Ass-Kickin’ Red Texas chili and Texas toast.
