The Inland Empire is jam packed with fun events all weekend long.  It’s like the “F” in Fall stands for fun!  So enough of my usual jibber-jabber let’s just get right to it because there are so many fun events we’ve collected and curated in our Weekend Fun Guide.

RIVERSIDE

Thru 9/30, “Into the Woods” - Performance Riverside presents this timeless classic  beginning tonight at 8 p.m. at the Landis Performing Arts Center. Tickets start at $28.

9/29, Rock the Block – Four popular local bands will take the stage in this FREE family musical event, set for 5-9 p.m. Saturday at Civic Plaza between University and Mission Inn avenues in Riverside.

9/28, Three Dog Night – Catch this legendary band on stage at 8 p.m. Friday at the Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside. Tickets start at $37.

9/29, Brian McKnight - Listen to the smooth songs of this R&B musician at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside. Tickets start at $40.

Thru 1/10/13 – Riverside Art Museum – The museum’s newest exhibit, “Painting in Pixels: An Exhibition of Concept Art” opens Sunday in Riverside. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. General admission is $5; members and children 12 and younger are FREE.

 

SAN BERNARDINO AND REDLANDS

9/29-9/30, Live jazz in Lake Arrowhead – Check out the live acoustic jazz, rock, blues and more happening at the Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa from 9 p.m.-12 a.m.

9/29, Redlands High School Food Truck Fundraiser – Get your hungry on from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday when 11 gourmet food trucks will help raise money for the school’s Baseball Booster Club. Vendor booth, raffles, prizes, music and of course, food!

9/29, End of Summer Festival – Adults will enjoy this one-day music festival beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday at The Wigwam Motel on Route 66 in San Bernardino. 18 and older only. Music, food, fun, fashion, art and more! Tickets are $10; bring a canned food item for a $5 discount.

9/30, “The Science Behind the ShakeOut” – This lecture from Senior Curator Kathleen Springer starts at 2 p.m. and is included with paid museum admission to San Bernardino County Museum

 

CUCAMONGA VALLEY

9/28-9/30, Weekly Film Series – Catch “The Cowboys” at 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the Dos Lagos Stadium 15 tribute to John Wayne. Admission is only $3.

Thru 10/28, Field of Screams: The Haunted Stadium – Diamond Stadium in Lake Elsinore is transformed into a haunted stadium every Thursday through Sunday until October 28. Hours of operation are 7-10 p.m. Thursdays and Sundays and 7-11 p.m. Fridays and Sundays. General admission tickets are $15 or $20 for VIP passes.

9/29, The Yum Festival - It’s back! All your favorite gourmet food trucks will be at Ontario Mills from 2-8 p.m. Saturday. Music, giveaways, face painting, BMX demonstrations and more. Presale tickets are $5 and $7 at the door. Children under 4 years old are FREE.

9/29, Fontana Car Show – Every last Saturday of the month car enthusiasts get the opportunity to showcase their amazing vehicles.  The Fontana Car Show is a free afternoon of fun and entertainment for the whole family from 3-5 p.m. at the Civic Center Campus (8353 Sierra Ave). Please note this is a no cruising event.

9/29, Dos Lagos Stadium 15 – The FREE Saturday Family Film Series continues this weekend with “Where the Wild Things Are.” The movie starts at noon at the Corona theater.

9/29, National Public Lands Day - Enjoy a day outdoors on National Public Lands Day with free events, activities and more in Fontana at the Mary Vagle Nature Center (11501 Cypress Ave. Fontana).  Volunteer Garden Projects: 9-12 p.m.; Environmental Education Fair: 1-4 p.m.

9/30, Community Cinema Season – Get a FREE sneak peek of upcoming documentaries scheduled this season on PBS’ “Independent Lens.” This week’s presentation, “Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide” is set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Riverside Public Library.

9/30, Sunday Night ComedI.E. – Every Sunday Marquee 15 in Corona is making the IE laugh with a very funny line up.   Plus 1/2 off all appetizers, $3 domestic drafts.  Events are 18+ only and doors open at 7 p.m.  Tickets are $15. This week, comedian Allan Harvey takes the stage.

 

POMONA & CHINO VALLEY

9/28, Claremont Friday Nights Live! – Free concerts are held at the Village Square Public Plaza (by Laemmle 5 Theatres), in front of the Claremont Chamber, 205 Yale Avenue and at City Hall Plaza, Second St west of Harvard Ave.  The Village is bustling with activity so remember to mark your calendars.

9/29, Antique Row Collectors Street Faire – Every last Saturday from 8-3 p.m. stroll through Pomona’s Antique Row and keep your eyes peeled for the perfect vintage find

9/29, Pomona Night Out – Join the Art Walk, check out the vendors, enjoy the live music and have some free fun starting at 3-9 p.m.

9/29, Fontana Car Show – The Civic Center Campus is the place to be on the last Saturday of the month. The FREE car show is from 3-5 p.m. and includes food, live music, cars and more!

Thru 9/30, Miss Saigon – FINAL WEEKEND!! This classic love story is playing at the Candlelight Pavilion  Theatre in Claremont starting Friday. Tickets start at $20 for the August 24, 2012, show only. Remaining performances start at $48.

Thru 9/30, L.A. County Fair – FINAL WEEKEND! Come on down to the Fairplex in Pomona for the kick off of the fair’s 90th year! Food, rides, games, shopping and amazing music! Tickets are weekdays: $12 for adults 13 and older, $7 for children 6-12 years old, $9 for seniors 60 years and older and children 5 and younger are free. Add $5 per ticket for weekend admission (except children younger than 5). Parking is $12 on weekdays and $15 on weekends. Check out the fair’s website for a variety of promotions, discounts and information on the summer concerts.

Thru 10/21, Tibbies Center Stage Theatre - Tickets are still available for this weekend’s performance of “The Producers.” Dinner packages start at $39.95; show only tickets start at $18.

 

BIG BEAR & LAKE ARROWHEAD

9/29, National Public Lands Day – Get down and dirty at the Big Bear Discovery Center on Saturday and assist with ecological restoration at Cactus Flats OHV staging area. Meet at the center 9 a.m. and bring a hat, sunscreen and water. Lunch and tools provided.

9/29, Big Bear Mountain Resorts Job Fair – Head to the Big Bear Mountain Resorts Employee Services office (Snow Summit – 880 Summit Blvd Big Bear) and find out about all the different job opportunities they have coming up for the season.

9/29-30, Back to Big Bear Regatta – Beat the heat this weekend at the annual boat race on Big Bear Lake. View the event for FREE all day Saturday and Sunday.

Thru 10/27, Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest -  Head to Southern California’s #1 Oktoberfest offering authentic German entertainment, food and beer.  If you’re an Oktoberfest fan and haven’t been to this event you do not want to miss it!  I’ve been and the contests, shows, activities and dancing alone are totally worth it.  Oh, and there’s beer! ;-)

 

TEMECULA

Thru 9/30, “The Music Man” – This is your last chance to see this amazing musical performed by the Temecula Valley Players. Tickets are $15 on Friday and $20-$25 on Saturday and Sunday.

9/28, Temecula Children’s Museum – Join Professor Pennypickle and Beaker at their workshop on Friday as they “Test Your Senses.”  Tickets are $5 and an adult must accompany children. The Friday program runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

9/29, Gin Blossoms – The pop/rock group will sing their hits and more as Monte de Oro winery in Temecula wraps up its Summer Concert Series at 7 p.m. Saturday. VIP dinner tickets are sold out. General admission seats start at $55.

 

DESERT COMMUNITIES

Thru 11/30, Palm Desert Community Gallery – A new exhibit, “THREE,” opens this weekend and showcases the work of three artists. The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

9/28, McCallum Theatre – Foremost rock impressionists Wilco take the stage for one night only. Show begins at 8 p.m., and tickets start at $40.
