2/11, Riverside Black History Parade in Downtown Riverside, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Parade route starts at Riverside City College at the corner of Terracina and Magnolia Ave, ending at Riverside County Court House. See website for details.

2/16, Presentation: Black History Month and the Arts at Bre Dance Studio, in Riverside, from 6-7:30 p.m. Award-winning ink and painter, Belle Mann, for The Simpsons and popular shows from Disney and others.  Mann will discuss her and colleague Floyd Norman’s careers in the animation field. Norman was the first black animator for Disney, and is the subject and author of the recently published book and documentary, An Animated Life.

ONTARIO BLACK HISTORY MONTH EVENTS

2/6, Black Heroes Story Time at Ontario Ovitt Family Community Library, from 4:30-5:15 p.m. Celebrate Black History Month with a special story time featuring stories of African American heroes and acts of outstanding courage. Free admission. 

2/10, Jeopardy! Black History Month Edition- Colony at Ontario Colony High Branch Library, from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Free for ages 13-18. See website for details.

2/13, African Drumming Presented by CHAZZ at Ontario Ovitt Family Community Library, from 7-8 p.m. Celebrate Black History Month with performance celebrating African rhythms. Free admission. 

  

TEMECULA  BLACK HISTORY MONTH EVENTS 

2/16, Black History in Comics at Temecula Valley Museum, from 6-8 p.m. In honor of Rotunda Exhibit, “Black History in Comics,” ephemera collector Greg McWhorter will trace the African-American experience as it relates to the rise of heroes through comic art from 1800s-today.

2/24, Black History Month Celebration at Temecula Valley Museum, starting at 9 p.m. The Merc will host a entertaining celebration focused on the message of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Cost is $12 per person. See website for details.
