Let’s save some money with free family-friendly activities. Whether you would like to learn more about our nation’s history or would like to visit a train museum, there’s a little bit of everything to do this week.

5/9, Storytime - Bilingual Storytime at Upland Public Library from 5-6 p.m. Hola! Head over to The Brodie Room at this local library for a free bilingual storytime. Stories are read in both English and Spanish, and the stories will be read for an hour total. You do not need to register in advance, so last minute drop-ins are welcome. Nos vemos ahi.
5/10, Memorial Shrine - Visit The Lincoln Memorial Library in 1-5 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. Learn about life and legacy of one of history’s favorite presidents—Abraham Lincoln. From getting credit for ending American slavery to leading our nation through a challenging civil war, there are many reasons to love this guy.
5/11, Train Museum – Visit Orange Empire Railway Museum in Perris. Grounds are open every day except Christmas and Thanksgiving from 9a.m. to 5p.m. Trains and trolleys only operate on the weekends and holidays. Admission to the museum is free. This railway museum is home to the biggest collection of railway locomotives, streetcars, passenger cars, freight cars, buildings and more in the Western United States. Curious minds will love seeing all these artifacts from the 1870s.
5/12, Free Movie Night – Family Movie Nights (every Thursday) at the Steelworkers’ Auditorium in Fontana from 6p.m. to 8p.m. This free movie screening will prove to be the perfect family outing, because everyone appreciates a quality film projected onto the big screen. Seating is limited, so you’ll want to arrive early to ensure you get a good spot.
5/12, Historic Tours - Door Open Event in Historic Downtown Riverside from 6-9 p.m. Tours happen every 20 minutes starting at 6 p.m. Come get a tour inside historic downtown buildings that are not usually open to the public. In addition to tours inside historic buildings and of the buildings' exteriors, there are also restaurant specials during this Doors Open Event. 5/13, Exhibit – Visit “Sam Maloof Woodworker: Life/Art/Legacy” exhibition at Sam and Alfreda Maloof Foundation for Arts and Crafts in Alta Loma from 12p.m. to 4p.m. Admission is free unless you decide to book a private tour. Sam Maloof is the inspiration behind this wonderful foundation, and the mass display of his various works attests to the skill and passion behind his vision. Visit this exhibit, which just opened this past Sunday, and we know you and the children will enjoy it.
5/13, Art Museum - Visit Chaffey Community Museum of Art in Ontario. The museum is open to the public, and admission is free. This unique art museum is comprised of various galleries of local artwork. From paintings in their permanent collection to sculptures and art from a featured high school student, you can spend all afternoon wandering the halls of Chaffey Community Museum of Art.
