Auditions Set for Inland Pacific Ballet's ‘The Nutcracker’
Inland Pacific Ballet will hold auditions for all children’s roles in its annual holiday season production of “The Nutcracker,” which will be performed at three separate Inland Empire theaters between Nov. 26-Dec. 18.
Auditions will be held on Friday, Sept. 2, and Saturday, Sept. 3, at the Inland Pacific Ballet studios at 5050 Arrow Highway in Montclair.
A holiday tradition for families throughout the region, the critically acclaimed ballet company will bring “The Nutcracker” to life with dazzling sets, beautiful costumes and nearly 80 dancers on stage. Performances will be Nov. 26-Dec. 4 at the Lewis Family Playhouse in Rancho Cucamonga; Dec. 9-11 at the Fox Performing Arts Center in Riverside; and Dec. 15-18 at Bridges Auditorium at Pomona College in Claremont.
The annual holiday favorite tells the story of a young girl named Clara who receives a magical nutcracker doll on Christmas Eve and sets out on a wondrous journey to the Land of the Snow and the Kingdom of Sweets. A fantastic dream scene features battling mice, dancing snowflakes, waltzing flowers and the delightful Sugar Plum Fairy.
Young dancers ages 6 to 20 are invited to audition. Casting will be based on technical level, acting ability, height-body proportions and conduct. Those selected for roles must be available for all rehearsals and performances for their cast. There will be from two to four casts of children selected to perform during the four weekends of performances. There is a $20 audition fee and additional production and rehearsal fees for those who are offered a role. Casting selections and rehearsal schedules will be announced by Sept. 21, with children’s rehearsals beginning on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.
