Community | 12 Days of Giving - Day Seven
By: Jamie Durante
Many political, social and spiritual groups encourage altruism and giving back to your community year-round. However, something is in the air during the holiday season that really brings out the spirit of giving in all of us. For 12 days throughout December, we want to inspire you to give back to those who are in need in our local neighborhoods. Our "12 Days of Giving" feature will share the impact and needs of 12 different Inland Empire charities. Our hope is that each feature will inform you and encourage you to donate, volunteer or give back in some way. Please consider giving the gift of kindness to a stranger this season, because it may be the only one they receive.

Firefighters are amongst some of the most valuable and heroic professionals in our community. Working a job that ranges from first responding paramedic to a person who combats even the strongest local blazes, each individual on The City of Upland’s Fire Department deserves much recognition.
Another group within this professional field is The Upland Fire Department Explorer Post 955. These young, aspiring firefighters are part of this program in order to gain knowledge and training, which will help them to develop lifelong skills and also the motivation to go into the firefighting profession in the future. Overall, this program operates with the mindset that the youth is our future, and by investing in those that have interest in helping our community, we are ensuring the future generation remains dedicated, trained and skillful in saving lives.

Remember that sharing is caring, and if you can’t personally give back, share it with someone who can! #ieshineon #12daysofgiving
