DIY/Craft | DIY Lucky Buttons & Shamrock Wreath
By: Rina Gonzales, Mothership Scrapbook Gal
I am super excited to share my Lucky Buttons & Shamrock Wreath with you for this month's IEShineOn.com DIY Craft!
Here is the supplies list:
Foam Shamrocks (plain and/or glittered—I used both)
Buttons (my favorites are Laura Kelly for Buttons Galore)
Faux Gold Coins
Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
Scrapbook Paper (for super DIYers!)
Arrange your foam shamrock pieces (plain and/or glittered) on your wreath, and sort your buttons so they flow like a rainbow. Once you have them in order, you can glue them using a tacky glue. I use Aleene's Turbo Tacky Glue to apply my rainbow buttons to the foam shamrock. It will take a while to dry, perhaps even overnight. You can also stack and glue two sets of three faux gold coins.
Now you can hot glue your shamrocks to your wreath. You do not need a lot of hot glue, but you need to apply and stick them done promptly because you do not want the glue to dry. You will also hot glue the faux gold coin pieces to the shamrock foam pieces, but do not use too much glue as you can melt through the foam if you do.
You can now add the red twine by tying it to the shamrock stems. This adds an extra pop of color and layer of texture to the wreath.
Next, you should line the inside and outside of your wreath with a colorful piece of scrapbook paper, you can use tacky glue to adhere the paper to the wreath. Although you can't see it on the sample photo . . . trust me . . . your wreath will have a nice polished look when you are finished and hang up your wreath in your home, office or classroom!
I hope you have a fun time creating your wreath! Always be on the look out for fun items in the dollar bins too—you don't have to spend a lot to make cool crafts.
Happy Crafting, and I hope to see you at my Crafty Happy Hour on Thursday, March 19th from 5:30p.m. to 7:30p.m. at The Salted Pig in Downtown Riverside, 3700 12th Street in Riverside, in the Downstairs Banquet Area!
