Formula Drift Round 8, Irwindale Speedway

By Sara De Leeuw

Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines. The O’Reilly Auto Parts Title Fight, sponsored by Gumout, Formula DRIFT Championship Series, returns to Southern California for its grand finale Oct. 7-8 at Irwindale Speedway.

Thirty-two Formula Drift drivers will battle one last time in 2016 to earn the coveted title of Formula DRIFT champion. The heart-pounding, thrill-a-minute event is typically a sellout, so be sure to grab your tickets early.

Irwindale Speedway is the birthplace of American Drifting and the perfect venue to close out this whirlwind season. The track is the home venue for most of the drivers, and each year the competition grows more intense.

Drivers will race one other on this demanding and riveting short oval track with its numerous inside turns. Drivers will battle head-to-head at speeds faster than 100 mph, just inches away from each other and concrete walls.

Gates open at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, for spectators to watch open practice and qualifying rounds. There will be an autograph session with all the drivers later in the evening.

On Saturday, Oct. 8, gates open again at 2 p.m., with the main competition starting at 3:40 p.m.

This event will also feature a huge vendor village, tons of giveaways from sponsors, driver autograph session, open pits to see the cars and stars up close and personal, and much more.

Ticket prices range from $40 for a one-day grandstand price to $150, for a two-day VIP trackside experience. Grab your tickets now at
