Three junior journalists from IEShineOn.com took on the task of checking out an Inland Empire farm—getting the thorough experience and getting thoroughly dirty!
Greenspot Farms in Mentone is tucked down a street right off of Highway 38 (look for the Ward Way sign on the right) and is a cute, fun way to spend some time with the kids on a working farm.
The animals on the farm were a big draw for the junior journalist crew—goats, sheep, horses, a pig, chickens, a miniature horse and a bull taking a nap. There is an honor system of buying little bags of corn to feed the animals.
Another big draw for our three toddlers was a non-op little tractor which they took turns "driving" and "fixing."
Greenspot Farms sells produce when in season including lemons, avocado, honey and more. Check out the kithcen adventure Sara had with lemons from Greenspot Farms! The farm also backs Crafton Hills, which makes for an amazing background as you walk up the hill from the parking lot and through the farm.
During the fall holidays and Christmastime they sell pumpkins and Christmas trees, and host holiday rides with spooky decorations in October and Christmas lights and festive fun in December, including outdoor holiday movies.
Greenspot Farms hosts school tours during the year, which include a tour around the farm, visits to a pumpkin patch and honey house, and a ride behind a tractor. The farm is also available for weddings and includes a honeymoon suite on the property.
Greenspot Farms, 10133 Ward Way, Mentone, CA 92359. It is open daily 9 a.m.-6 p.m. There is free admission to the farm, but there is a fee for some activities. For more information visit greenspotfarms.com or call .
