It’s almost here! The National Orange Show Citrus Fair is coming to the Inland Empire from April 20-24th, and it is sure to be a weekend packed with fun for the whole family.
The 101st NOS Citrus Fair is a celebration of the citrus agricultural heritage of the area and will feature arts, crafts, rides and entertainment for all ages. Enjoy live music, access to rides, games and concessions within the National Orange Show, from April 20th-24th. Admission to the fair varies between 1 to 8 dollars, while unlimited ride wristbands will be sold for $25. These wristbands give guests access to approximately 30 exhilarating rides provided by Butler Amusements.
While at the Fair, be sure to visit its many attractions. Enjoy Venardos Circus, Butterfly Adventures, Brad's World of Reptiles, pig races, a petting zoo, multiple contests, plus tons of free crafts and activities at the NOS Fair AgDay! In addition to the carnival atmosphere, the NOS Fair also hosts a Veterans Dinner and the Juried Art Exhibit.
Coinciding with Earth Day this year (April 22nd), the fair will also have environmental education, recycle-based crafts and composting workshops. Not to mention visits with farm animals, face painting, a reptile show and tons of food. All the makings of a perfect spring day!
The highlight of the fair each year is the Historic Citrus Display Contest, an Inland Empire tradition for over a century now. It started out as a way to promote the local citrus industry and has since grown into an event that involves the whole community and shows support for local organizations and businesses. This year the NOS is partnering with Kiwanis Division 36 and High School Key Clubs to collect citrus fruit from throughout the Inland Empire to be used in the contest.
The NOS is also accepting citrus donations in exchange for free fair admission. Donations can be delivered on Saturday, April 16th at Gerrard’s Market in Redlands between 10a.m.-4p.m., or on Monday, April 18th at their offices located at 689 South “E” Street in San Bernardino (drop off at Gate 1 administrative office). One free fair ticket per five-pound bag donation.
This is one event you definitely don’t want to miss. So come on out and celebrate our Inland Empire heritage with a weekend full of family fun!
