Ophelia’s Jump Productions, a theater company based in Claremont, is dedicated to producing award-winning and respected works that open audiences minds and raise thought-provoking ideas. Performing both nationally-known and local pieces of work, Ophelia’s Jump is opening their 4th season with a Tony Award-winning comedic play.
Ophelia’s Jump is performing Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike at The Theatre Company Performing Art Studio in Upland from February 5-21. The play’s characters are a mash-up of 19th century Russian writer Anton Checkov’s characters and themes in modern day Pennsylvania.
Sonia and Vanya are step-siblings who grew up in their family's humble farmhouse. While they both held the responsibility of caring for their ailing parents, they looked upon their sister's life as an actress and movie star with jealousy. Cassandra, their cleaning woman and soothsayer, warns the pair of terrible future events that will happen. Sit on the edge of your seat with suspense as Masha and her boy toy Spike come to town.
The Theatre Company is located at 1400 N. Benson Ave. in Upland. Performances are Friday and Saturday nights at 8p.m., and Sunday nights at 4p.m. Tickets are $25 general admission, $22 student and seniors. Valentine’s Day weekend performances are at 7p.m. with a special preshow beginning at 7p.m. Tickets are $35 for the special performances, which include a drink and desert. Additional information, including group pricing and future performances, is available at OpheliasJump.org. To purchase tickets visit the website or call (909)541-5850.
