Spark of Love Toy Drive Upland will be returning for the ninth year in a row. Last year, they successfully donated gifts to almost 500 underserved elementary school children. This generous tradition is led by the Upland Fire Department, Upland Recreation Division and Southern California Firefighters. Spark of Love is returning once again to help even more children and bring holiday cheer. There are plenty opportunities to give to Spark of Love coming to the City of Upland!
Last year, the Spark of Love Toy Drive was able to help so many children with the donations from Upland citizens, residents, businesses and other amazing organizations. This year, Spark of Love is hoping to give back even more, as well, as expand its program. Spark of Love’s goal is to benefit 250 to 350 more children, incorporating teenagers. Spark of Love wants all children and teens to have a delightful holiday season.
Part of this year’s expansion is Upland's Spark of Love Toy Drive event, Tip a Cop and Tip a Firefighter on Thursday, November 19. The Upland Police Officer's Association and The Upland Professional Firefighters band together to collect proceeds for Spark of Love. The tips and funds raised will all go toward buying gifts for often overlooked tweens and teens in the City of Upland. This event will be held at Chili’s located in the Colonies from 4p.m. to 9p.m.
Another opportunity to enoy the holiday festivities while still giving back is the Historic Downtown Upland Association's Shop Til You Drop vendor fair and a family-friendly holiday extravaganza on Sunday, December 6th. More than just a vendor fair, this holiday shopping event features photo with Santa, a scavenger hunt, "Santa Paws" photo opportunity at Pet Food Emporium, a window decorating contest, kids' activities, live entertainment and more. Held in Historic Downtown Upland, the 3rd Annual Shop 'Til You Drop gives you a chance to turn your photo with Santa into a charitable donation. An unwrapped toy donation or $5 donation will get you a photo with Santa, and 100% of the proceeds will go to Spark of Love Toy Drive. Shop 'Til You Drop will be held on Sunday, December 6, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Find out more about Shop Til You Drop at GoUpland.com.
The final event for Spark of Love will be the pancake breakfast held for the children on December 19th. During the pancake breakfast, toys will be distributed and the children will be able to meet their holiday heroes. The toys will be distributed at the Historic Fire Station located by City Hall from 7a.m. to 11a.m. The event will be hosted by the Upland Fire Department, Upland Police Department and Upland Recreation Division. Spark of Love provides positive role models for the children as well as creating meaningful relationships.
To donate you can drop off new, unwrapped toys and sporting equipment in a Spark of Love box. The boxes will be located at all Upland Fire Departments, the Upland Recreation Division and City Hall starting in the middle of November and ending on December 18th. The gifts are distributed in the City of Upland.
