Riverside Arts and Music Festival set for Downtown Riverside on Sept. 17
Celebrating arts and music with cultural exhibits, demonstrations, workshops and participatory activities, the Riverside Arts and Music Festival will fill the streets of downtown Riverside from 3-10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17.
Billed as the region’s largest fundraiser in support of the arts, the event will feature cultural performances, headline entertainment, local artists and art groups, street performances and a chalk art festival on University Avenue downtown between Lemon and Market streets.
Headlining the main stage at University and Lemon is bilingual rock band Allison Iraheta + Halo Circus at 8 p.m.
Co-founded by former American Idol star Iraheta and multi-platinum producer and bassist Matthew Hager (Duran Duran, Scott Weiland), Allison Iraheta + Halo Circus has developed a reputation for impressive live performances. The band released its debut full-length album, Bunny, in June and has already received critical acclaim). Other band members include drummer Veronica Bellino, who previously worked with Jeff Beck and DMC of Run DMC, and guitarist Brian Stead. Local and cultural performers will be featured on the main stage throughout the afternoon.
In partnering with the Riverside Downtown Partnership, the Riverside Arts Council has expanded the festival to appeal to a wider range of the community, integrating the former Mayor’s Ball and Summer Street Jam into the Riverside Art and Music Festival.
