It’s hot, and we know it. That’s why we’re going to wait until the evening time to enjoy live music and theater performances with family and friends. While the performing arts serve as engaging entertainment for minds young and old, we might have thrown in a date night idea for grown-ups who are looking to get away during the week as well.
8/24, Concert in the Park – Concerts in the Park at Memorial Park in Claremont from 7p.m. to 8:30p.m. Bring blankets, a couple low beach chairs, and enjoy live music in the fresh evening air. You can also bring something to munch on, however The Kiwanis Club sells everything from burgers to popcorn and drinks to top off the great tunes.
8/25, Talent Show – Candlelight’s Talent Show at Candlelight Pavilion Dinner Theater in Claremont. Doors open at 6:45p.m., show begins at 7:30p.m. Admission is $15. Don’t miss an evening of stellar performances from singing and dancing to other impressive acts. This is the Finalists’ Performance, so you know the participants are bringing serious skill in order to win spectacular prizes. You can purchase desserts and drinks in the lobby.
8/26, Performing Arts – Mary Poppins at Landis Performing Arts Center in Riverside 2p.m. and 7p.m. Ticket prices range from $29 to $50. This Broadway musical has captured the hearts and vocal chords of children and adults for many years now. Seeing the story come alive onstage is the best way to enjoy this classic storyline of family values and positive behavior.
8/27, Date Night – Twelfth Night 2015 at Baily Vineyard & Winery in Temecula at 7:30p.m. Ticket prices range from $17 to $30. Known as the most romantic comedy written by William Shakespeare, this is the perfect play to pair with a little wine for a classy, kid-free date night. You know you deserve it!
8/27, Live Music – Live Music at Family Night Out in Downtown Upland from 5p.m. to 9p.m. Free and open to the public. Upland’s Family Night Out has live music playing in the gazebo, but that’s only the beginning. Vendors sell everything from homemade cookies to up-cycled goods and more. Don’t forget to stop by, and say hello so our friends at Pacific Wine Merchants, Genovevas and Erns Lab!
8/28, Summer Concert – Summer Concert Series at Lake Arrowhead Village from 6:30p.m. to 8:30p.m. Concert is free and open to the public. To purchase guaranteed seating call (909) 337-2533. This summer concert is in a class of its own. First, Led Zepagain will be rocking the stage. Second, there is a beer garden that opens 30 minutes before the show starts. Drink responsibly, and have a good time.
8/28, Performance – Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at The Box, Fox Entertainment Plaza in Riverside at 8p.m. Ticket price is $20. If you’re a fan of the classic movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, or if you’re a fan of theater in general, this is a theatrical performance worth checking out. With the signature car from the movie, as well as everyone’s favorite song, this is a solid tribute to a great movie.
