One of the perks of this job is being able to travel to fun destinations throughout the Inland Empire with my family in tow . . . all in the name of finding the best kid-friendly places to recommend to our readers. Last year, we visited five museums that are especially interactive for children.
Do not let boredom get the best of you; instead visit these five kid-friendly museums.
Chino Youth Museum in Chino
This childrens museum caters to the imaginations of young children in every sense of the word! From a miniature city to puppet shows, dinosaurs, space, Legos, crafts and more . . . this spacious and colorful museum gives children the freedom to explore.
Chino Youth Museum, 13191 6th St., Chino, CA 91710. Visiting hours are Wednesdays through Sundays from 10a.m. to 4p.m. Member only hour from 9a.m. to 10a.m. Admission is $4 for an adult, or child one year and older. Planes of Fame Air Museum in Chino
Families of all ages will be captivated by the planes and artifacts of this huge aviation museum. From a hangar dedicated to the U.S. Army Airforce unit that won 562 victories in WWII to an old school Rolls Royce, this museum is inflated with fascinating pieces of history.
Planes of Fame Air Museum is located at 7000 Merrill Ave., Ste. #17 in Chino, CA 91710. Normal hours are Sundays through Fridays from 10a.m. to 5p.m. and Saturdays from 9a.m. to 5p.m. General admission is $11. Admission for children under 12 is $4, children under five admitted free. The Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology in Claremont
You can visit an impressive dinosaur museum without leaving the comforts of your own backyard. Interactive exhibits and large dinosaur skeleton displays are just the beginning of this museum’s kid-friendly fun.

San Bernardino County Museum in Redlands
Children can explore prehistoric sea life, dress up as a sheriff and more at this exciting museum. From fascintating exhibits to a beautiful plant garden, you will have no problem spending your day exploring this wonderful kid-friendly museum. Memberships are available and highly encouraged! They have member-only nights to preview exhibits and partake in extra fun.

Yanks Air Museum in Chino
This comfortable indoor aviation museum is huge! It houses airplanes that are original and airworthy, meaning that even the oldest, vintage crafts are still able to soar through the sky. You’ll be impressed by the various vehicles on display, and you will even get to know more about our history of exceptional manmade aircraft and our expanding technology over time.
