Even though we’re a steakhouse, Morton’s actually exists today because of…hamburgers! Years ago, before co-founders Arnie Morton and Klaus Fritsch really knew one other, they both worked at the Playboy Club in Montreal. The club was in the process of changing the menu, and Klaus cooked a hamburger that was sent out for Arnie to try. A few minutes later Arnie burst into the kitchen, demanding in no uncertain terms to know “Who cooked that hamburger?” When Klaus stepped forward to claim responsibility, he wasn’t sure if Arnie was going to be pleased or not! Klaus was relieved to hear him say that it was the best he’d ever tasted.

From that day forward, they worked together and eventually opened Morton’s steakhouses. So this has always called the “Million-Dollar Hamburger”!

In a nutshell…quality and consistency in everything we do and in everything we serve.

Had dinner here last night for the first time. We have been to Morton's in San Francico for a business dinner before, but had never been to the Palm Desert location in all the years we've been coming here. Everything was fantastic and the staff, from the valet all the way to the GM, were very polite and accomodating. We had brought in one of our favorite bottles of wine (Sea Smoke - Pinot Noir), which the sommelier recognized right away and complimented us on it. He even mentioned that he wished he could get it on to their wine list and he waived the corkage fee ($29) for us. The food was fantastic and Tony, our waiter, was very attentive and helpful with explaining some newer items that weren't on the menu. All in all it was a very enjoyable evening of great food and wine. We will definitely be back.
